In 2004, the Meso Foundation established an annual Mesothelioma Awareness Day. This year, Mesothelioma Awareness Day is September 26th. The Meso Foundation uses this day to help bring about more attention to this cancer and to raise funds for the treatment and research of the condition.
The Meso Foundation encourages anyone interested in helping to do the following:
- Help make Mesothelioma Awareness Day recognized in your states and cities
- Participate in or organize a mesothelioma fundraiser
- Use your social media access to promote awareness
Mesothelioma is a malignant cancer that is caused by exposure to asbestos. Mesothelioma attacks the linings of the heart, lungs, abdomen, and, rarely, the testicles. It causes pain, shortness of breath, inflammation, and is doesn’t have a cure.
